Escorpion is considered by many to be THE most prestigious club in
Valencia and consists of 27 holes (three separate nines) which were
designed by Ron Kirby in 1975 and some 26 years later the additional
nine holes were designed by Alfonso Vidaor.
The scenery around the course is beautiful with peach and orange groves
and the course has a good selection of features including strategically
placed bunkers and numerous water hazards.
The clubhouse itself is a former 17th century farmhouse and is a key
feature for anyone visiting this complex.
The complex is usually open from 08.00 until 21.30 in the Summer and
09.00 until 18.00 in the Winter months.

the five main lakes come into play on many of the holes particularly those
on the yellow course.
The practice facilities are excellent with a driving range and practice
chipping and putting greens.
The clubhouse is beautiful and traditional and itself is an attraction to
people visiting the area because of it's links with the 17th century."
Directions:
From Alicante leave the A7 toll motorway in the direction of Barcelona.
Continue along the by-pass until the Ademuz exit and continue in the
direction of Ademuz until exit 11 where there is a twist in the road to the
right in the direction of Betera.
Stay on this road for approx 3km and to the right (before arriving at the
town of Betera) is the entrance to Escorpion.

Golf Course Score cards and Review - Escorpion
Just knowing where to start with a course review of Escorpion is difficult
because there are three separate nine hole courses which can be played
in a number of permutations to create 18 holes of golf.
Probably the most commonly used combination is the yellow course
consisting of La Masia and Los Nuevos with a par of 73.
Talking in general about this combination, the main architects feature is the
use of the five natural lakes which come into play on nine of this eighteen
hole combination.
For the naturalists amongst you (I hope that I did not get that mixed up
with naturists) these lakes are regular nesting sites for various water birds
and also numerous Titleist Pro V1 golf balls!
The golf course is situated amongst the peach and orange groves and
they become an integral feature causing a number of dog legs on some
holes and you need to make a decision, do I try to carry the corner of the
dog leg or do I play strategically safe?
The practice facilities are excellent and the clubhouse, from the 17th
century is wonderful place to sit with friends and discuss your game
with a beer or two.
