Alenda golf property rentals direct from the owners
Alenda golf club holiday accommodation

Alenda Golf: The golf course is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de las Aguilas mountains and is close to the city of Alicante. There is something on offer for all standards of golfer with generous wide fairways for the majority of holes BUT on the back nine there are some serious risk and reward holes that can result in easy birdies or a card destroyer.
The facilities include a 14 bay driving range and practice chipping and putting greens as you would expect and a large modern clubhouse has now been constructed replacing the smaller, more traditional building.
The clubhouse and facilities are open all year from 08.00 to 20.00 in the
winter and 08.00 to 22.00 in the summer months

Mike Say's:
"This course was first opened to the public in 1999 and although it was
designed by a relatively unknown architect has something to offer for all standards of golfer.
For those of us fortunate to live here all year round it offers good value for money but a recent price increase has driven some golfers to the newer courses near to Murcia which is a pity.
The owners have constructed a 'vast' new clubhouse which although not to my personal taste may be appreciated by those amongst you who like modern things.
You should all enjoy your game of golf here BUT for those who have difficulty walking the course my advice is to get a buggy."

Directions: This is one of the easier courses to find being situated next to the A31 motorway. Departing from Murcia or Torrevieja take the A7 motorway in the direction of Valencia and exit at junction 74 (unmarked) but which is the slip road to Madrid and Monteforte Del Cid on the A31.
Ignore the exit for the urbanisations but take the next slip road signposted to Alicante and at the traffic island at the end of the slip road, go over the island and again follow signs for Madrid A31 BUT after only 150 metres take the slip road signposted Alenda Golf and turn right at the next island and you will see the clubhouse down the hill to your left.

The course score card and course review:
If you are holidaying in the Alicante area and are looking for a pleasant game of golf then look no further than Alenda, which is situated close to Alicante city and in the foothills of the Sierra de las Aguilas mountains. For once, due to the recent construction of a link road from the A7 motorway this is now one of the easiest golf courses in the area to find. Travelling from Murcia or Torrevieja on the A7 motorway in the direction of Valencia exit the motorway at the slip road signposted A31 to Madrid at old junction 74 (now unmarked). Remain on the A31 for approx 6km and the first exit that you see is signposted ‘urbanisations’ BUT ignore this and leave at the next exit signposted Alicante. There is a traffic island at the bottom of the slip road and you should continue straight ahead once again in the direction of Madrid on the A31 BUT after approx 150 metres take the slip road which is signposted ‘Alenda Golf’. At the top of the slip road is a traffic island close to the 10th tee and 18th green but turn right and down the hill and the clubhouse is located on your left. The golf course has a par of 72 and is spread over a gently rolling terrain and has fast undulating greens, which will test all of your skills and most unusually opens up with two par 5 holes. The fairways are generously wide with the emphasis more on accuracy rather than length BUT on the back nine there are some difficult holes where your score can quickly be damaged with an errant tee shot or two. The drives on the 12th, 16th and 18th hole in particular need great care with water hazards and out of bounds being close to the best target line from the tee. For the bigger hitters amongst you the par four 3rd, 5th, 8th, 13th and 14th holes can be driven with favourable conditions but danger awaits if you are off line. On one of my recent excursions to the course a small snake made it’s way across our path and when questioned, the green keeper said that it was poisonous BUT was only a baby, HOWEVER IF IT WAS BIGGER! It certainly looked big enough to me!!! Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy this golf course but being a little undulating those of you who have difficulty walking may be better with a buggy. The price of the green fee is usually pitched at around €50 for society groups and offers good value for money. The clubhouse is pleasant and has friendly staff and the prices while being higher than the local bars that you frequent are lower than many of the other courses in the area.
Until the next time. Mike Probert

Alenda property owner Ray, reports:

"The new number 1 hole replaces the old 2nd and the old 1st is now the 9th. When you have completed the 9th you walk towards the Clubhouse in front of you and through the tunnel under the road on the left (past the new Taylor Woodrow apartments) where you will find the 10th which is the old 14th . The course has been vastly improved since I first moved onto Alenda 3 years ago - the fairways are lush in the main and the greens the best I have ever played on. The bunkers are best avoided as the compacted sand makes it extremely difficult to get out of and I understand that this problem apparently is being addressed very soon. The new layout now makes for a very hard finish but still immensely enjoyable to play."
