La SellaThe La Sella: This golf course is situated next to the natural park of Montgo which is a very quiet area surrounded by Olive,Pine and Orange trees. Interestingly enough although the course was designed by a relatively unknown course architect called Juan de la Cuadra in 1991,nine of the holes were designed by Jose Maria Olazabal.
The clubhouse is an interesting feature being a mixture of the traditional and the modern (you will see what I mean when you arrive) and is usually open from 08.00am until late all year.
The practice facilities are good with a 25 bay driving range and chipping and putting greens.

La SellaMike Says: "When you see the name of a world great like Jose Maria Olazabal as a designer then you know that you are in for a tough time and this course is no different with some of the holes being what you would consider thought provoking, particularly if you miss the greens.
The course is in a scenic, quiet area and should suit all standards of golfer but will be ideal for the golfer that can use ALL of the clubs in their bag. The clubhouse is of what I consider a unique design and is a good place to reflect on your round with bar and restaurant prices NORMAL for this type of establishment (if you know what I mean)."

 
Directions: The course is situated on the Carretera La Xare-Jesus Pobre and can be found by leaving the A7 motorway from junction 62 or the more scenic N332 coast road at Jesus Pobre and follow the signs for the Campo de Golf or ask the locals if you get lost.

The course score card and course review:
This golf course was first opened to the public in 1991 and although designed by a relatively unknown designer called Juan de la Cuadra was greatly influenced by two times US Masters champion and Ryder Cup player Jose Maria Olazabal on nine of the holes. At 6289 metres from the white tees (6113 metres from the yellows) this course is of typical length for this area of Spain. The course length from the ladies tees is 5250 metres. Being surrounded by Pine, Olive and Orange trees and the park of Montgo the views as you play are wonderful, particularly for those that like to take in the aesthetic appeal of a course. The influence of Olazabal is seen around the greens where you will need good touch and vision to get up and down to prevent dropping too many shots. The longest hole is the 539 metres par 5 11th hole and the shortest is the 126 metre par 3 15th hole. The course offers something for all standards of golfer and is not too difficult a walk for those who do not want to use a lazy mans buggy. The practice facilities are good with a 25 bay driving range including a practice bunker and putting green. The clubhouse is somewhat different to the norm but you will enjoy the surroundings to review your round with the prices for drinks and food about what you would expect for a golf course in Spain.
