Marina GolfMarina Golf: This course was first opened to the public in the year 2000 and is situated close to the coastal town of Mojacar. Being situated slightly in the foothills there are some interesting holes which are played from elevated tees with the fourth hole being the signature hole. The clubhouse has a good bar and restaurant with views of the course and coastal area and given it's location there are numerous hotels so finding somewhere to stay will not be a problem.

Marina golfMike Say's: This is a pleasant seaside golf course which is not as difficult or long as the nearby Desert Springs but you should have an enjoyable game all the same.
The course architect has used the hilly terrain to best advantage and so you will find numerous holes played off elevated tees and the most notable is the 'infamous' fourth hole which you will find 'quaint', 'quirky' or just downright frustrating depending on how well you have played the hole.
If you have played badly then you can relax after the game in one of the many bars and restaurants along the Mojacar 'strip'. "
 
Directions: Travelling from Mojacar you should follow the road in the direction of La Garrucha and the course is approx 3km along the coast road with signposts to the campo de golf. The course is approximately 100km from Almeria airport and train station.

Course Score card and review: When I last played this golf course in October 2006 I was on a special golf holiday at Desert Springs which included hotel accommodation at the Marina Playa hotel and so the following day we played the Marina golf course.
Clearly this golf course is not on a par with the facilities at Desert Springs, however if you are on holiday in the area you will find this little course enjoyable and interesting. The course itself is built around foothills off the coast and the designer has used the terrain to the best advantage. The outcome of all of this is that there are lots of drops in elevation from elevated tees.
The fourth hole is probably the best testimony of this and when you play the course you will see what I mean because from any perspective it can be considered quirky, quaint or just down right 'this is not golf' depending on how you are playing and scoring on the day.
If all else fails, just a short stride away is the Mojacar strip which you can enjoy for bars,restaurants and music.
