Oliva NovaThe Oliva Nova: This golf course is widely considered to be the best of all of the courses designed by Seve Ballesteros and is held in such high regard that the Peugeot Oki Spanish National Championships have been held here on at least four occasions.
The facilities in general are top class with not only a good golf course but a golf academy with multilingual coaches,25 bay driving range,2 practice greens and bunkers and has been open to the public since 1995.
The façade at the entrance gives a good indication of the standard of the course and facilities and the clubhouse is wonderful place to relax after your round of golf and is usually open from 08.00am till late.

Oliva NovaMike Says: "This is considered by many to be the best of the 'Seve' courses but in my opinion you have to go a long way to beat Alicante Golf, however this is a good test of golf with water hazards on fifteen of the eighteen holes. The course designer has incorporated something for all standards of golfer with a variety of hole lengths, difficulties and dog legs. If you are in the area this course is well worth playing and offers good value for money in comparison with some other local courses. Unfortunately as is normal for golf courses in Spain you can expect to pay a hefty price to eat and drink in the clubhouse."

 
Directions: The golf course is situated approx equi-distant between Alicante and Valencia airports and close to the resort town of Oliva and close to the port of Denia.
The course is in close proximity to both the A7 motorway and the N332 coast road which is probably the better option because the route is more scenic and there are more signs to the golf course. If in doubt when you arrive at the town of Oliva just ask for the 'Campo de Golf'.

The course score card and course review:
Having played the Seve Ballesteros designed course at Alicante Golf on many occasions i was looking forward to playing the Oliva Nova course because it has been acclaimed as his 'best' work on this stretch of the Costa's.
Although I was not disappointed, I am still of the belief that Alicante Golf is better as a challenge and is better maintained BUT take nothing away from Oliva Nova because it is still a very good golf course. The course was first opened to the public in 1995 and has on a number of occasions been used for major Spanish National competitions and I can see why with water on at least fifteen of the eighteen holes. Combined with a total course length of 6270 metres this makes this course no easy 'touch' and you certainly have to play your golf. Seve has incorporated dog leg holes as part of his defences for the course which go both from right to left and left to right with holes of various lengths and difficulties making this a course suitable for all standards of golfer. The course overall is relatively flat with pleasant views BUT if you are a lazy golfer you can hire a buggy for your round although it really is not necessary.
The overall golf facilities are excellent with a nice clubhouse and practice facilities BUT once again the clubhouse bar prices ensure that you will not have 'one to many for the road'.
